Hospice House

In-Patient Unit: A Place of Comfort
and Compassion

History

In 1981, Hospice of Bowling Green opened with an all-volunteer staff. In addition to addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of terminally ill patients with a limited life expectancy, caring hospice workers also provided emotional and spiritual support to the patients’ families.

As time went on, the HSK staff evolved into a paid workforce. In 2006, the organization, which had years before changed its name to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, Inc. moved from a small house near downtown Bowling Green into its present location of the home care office building at 5872 Scottsville Rd. In August 2008 we opened our 10-bed inpatient Hospice House.  This addition represented the fourth residential hospice in Kentucky at the time.

Respite Care
  • A level of temporary care provided in nursing home, hospice inpatient facility, or hospital so that a family member or friend who’s the patient’s caregiver can take some time off.
